What type of visa do I need to travel to a country?

If you are a citizen of a Visa Waiver Program country visiting the US without a visa, you need a Travel Authorization (ESTA) before you travel. If your country is not in the program you will usually need a visa.

If you are visiting the UK and do not need a visa, you need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before you travel. British and Irish citizens do not need one.
